Reciever in the Canal  a BTE but uses a wire and has the speaker in the canal opening. Great hearing aids for BOOMER LOSS or AGING LOSS, that is great lows and a nice sloping drop in the high frequencys. The Canals

ll CUSTOM hearing aids that fit inside the ear cavity or concha and ear canal .
The spohiscation of circuit is selected, dual or single microphones, volume controls, program buttons and power of speaker are placed inside. Great for Mild-moderate through to Severe losses. They are custom fitted to your ear.

Completely in the Canal (C.I.C.) 
CUSTOM aid that starts at the canal opening and gioes to the second bend of the ear channel.
When it comes to looks think of the CIC, hardly can be seen and sounds good. Good for Moderate to Moderate Severe losses.

The Peri-Tympantics Deep Insertion CICIs, IIC. miniCIC
 CUSTOM or generetic aid that starts near the second bend in the canal and goes past the second bend
of the ear channel towards the eardrum. Cannot be seen and sounds good and can be removed by the user. Good for Mild to Moderate losse
Semi permanent CICIs
a generetic aid that starts at the second bend in the canal and goes past the second bend of the ear channel towards the eardrum. Cannot be seen and looks good and can only be removed by the vendor. Good for Mild to Moderate Severe losses

Features to consider:

Channels are adjustable settings by frequency. Is more better? Not allways, depends on your hearing loss shape.
The more steeper the drop, the need for more frequency channels, flatter less.

Noise Speech Filtering, these are adpative signal processors that screen out noise by removing sounds at certain decibel levels. Too much and things sound quiet, unclear or choppy, too little noisy and loud.

Volume Controls, nearly every hearing aid today possess a self adjusting volume, but with some users they prefer to set things they way the like too.

Programs are basically different setups of your hearing aid, you can have 3-4-5 of them.
The purpose is that you don't change, your listening environment does, so you can select a more efficent program or setting with a push of a button. 

Directional Microphones, old technology but very efficent. Two microphones recieve sound from the back and front.
One microphone means, you can hear within a cone directly in front of you. 

Telephone Controls, T-coils or not? T-coils are small magnetic pickups within your hearing aid.
They can pick up magnetic signals from older phones, loop systems and headsets. 

Remotes, for those people who cannot or do not to touch their hearing aid to change things.
You can adjust things like programs and volume.

Streamers (Bluetooth/Wifi/FM), these are systems that can transfer (stream) other signals such as blue tooth devices,
audio media, cells, tablets etc. They pick up the incoming signal then transfer that signal to the hearing aids.

Wax Guards changable wax prevention filters, wax will allways be there, but helps prevent clogging.

Moisture Proofing, no hearing aid is Water Proof, but with NANO tech coatings, moisture can be less of a problem.

Auditory retraining plan, is a therapy plan of retraining the brain towork with the hearing aids.
There are available commercial systems available.

Implement hearing health care plan, in the case of servicing, reprogramming and maintence.

Verification testing, is the ability to verify what sound the hearing aids are producing with set test sounds.
